Abstract 'The Kiss' cushion cover 18" x 18"
This beautiful decorative cushions create a vibrant focal point in your d̩ecor and is brought to you by artisans from Kashmir. Created in multi-coloured patterns, the cover is largely inspired by 'The Kiss' - a sketch by artist Pablo Picasso.
A close-up view allows you to see the intricate use of Aari or chain-stitch hand embroidery to make beautiful patterns using different coloured woollen/silk threads. This kind of work is called the Kashidari embroidery achieved by the use of the traditional needle called the Ari. It takes an artisan roughly around a week's time to finish making one cover.
Traditionally patterns involved floral and animal motifs, but these have evolved over time and modern Kashmiri artisans have created refreshing modern works interpreted in the palette of coloured silks and wool, using designs inspired by many abstract artists such as Gustav Klimt, Wassily Kandinsky, Joan Miro, Thomas Fedro and Heather Galler.
